Our clients' biggest request was to add spaciousness, allowing two people to use the space together. Removing a wall between the utility room & kitchen allowed a merging of both areas and resulted in easy back-door access for unloading groceries from the car. Part of the former utility room was partitioned off and the washer & dryer were relocated there. Convenient access was added from the hall, close to the bedrooms.
Understated and warm, the combination of cherry cabinets and cork flooring sets a quietly uniform tone. Dark, honed-granite counters provide an excellent backdrop for the addition of the muted blue-green hues in paint and tile. Irregular tumbled-glass mosaic tiles give an interesting texture, while the gleam of stainless steel appliances adds an elegant finish.
The hard-working prep area by the second sink is tucked around a corner, allowing the main view into the kitchen to remain sleek and uncluttered.
